Lindsay's story in her own words.
When addiction took hold of Lindsay’s life — it nearly destroyed it. She lost her job. Lost her daughter. Lost her home — she found herself living on the streets. Ultimately, she landed in prison, sentenced to 13 months.
Thankfully, friends like YOU were there to lend a hand when she needed it most – to help her begin rebuilding life here at House of Refuge Sunnyslope.
Soon after she arrived, we helped her find work. Her management experience surged to the fore. Before long, she was promoted to an office manager position. Then, by a beautiful miracle of God’s grace, her parental rights were restored. Talk to Lindsay today, and here’s what she’ll say:
“No one can tell me that God is not a God of restoration.”

Our goal is to add 50 new partners by the end of the month to love, house, and equip single men and women transitioning out of homelessness. We’re getting close, but we’re not there yet.

Today, Lindsay and her daughter are living in one of our properties. They have a beautiful, loving relationship. Mom reads Bible stories to her little one. It’s a whole new life.
“I was ready to change my life,” Lindsay remembers. And “I knew Jesus would help me.” All she needed was someone to be Jesus to her.
