From Fear and Desperation to Embracing Jesus

Desiree lived in fear and desperation. A single mom since the age of 30, she felt very lost and needed a place where she felt safe. House of Hope Sunnyslope (HHS) was that place and there, she also found Jesus.

Her time in a domestic violence shelter was coming to a close, she had recently had heart surgery, and wasn’t sure where she and her daughter were going to live next. That is exactly when God brought her to HHS.

“The women in my life, my mentors and some of the staff at HHS were a great example to me of Jesus shining through them.”

As she embraced Jesus…

After about 7 months, it really starting sticking with me that you had to pray.

Upon graduation she surrounded herself with relationships in her church, with lost family members, and with Jesus.

“I’m on a great path.”

If you’d like to volunteer to work with the House of Hope and Promise women, we’re always looking to for mentors, bible study leaders and life-skills instructors. Click here for more information.
