5 Baptism Stories of How God Changes Lives…

May 1, 2018, was not only May Day and the first day of May, it was the first day of new lives for 5 men at House of Refuge Sunnyslope as they gave their lives to Jesus Christ through Baptism.

We asked them 4 questions:

  1. Why did you get baptized?

    • “‘Cause the Bible says to and the Spirit was pulling at my heart.  I wanted to make a public proclamation of my faith”

    • “To let everyone know I gave my life to Jesus.”

    • “I got baptized to kill the old me and rise again with the Holy Spirit.

    • “I got baptized so that God would come into my heart and soul.   To be close to Him.”

  2. How had God changed your life?

    • “Wow! He has changed it in so many ways. He has given me a whole new life. I’ve been drug and alcohol free since 7/7/16, and quit smoking cigarettes 1 year ago and he is restoring my family.”

    • “He has made me look at life in a different way… how to be a good father, son, and friend.” 

    • “He showed me how to listen before I speak, gave me a place to live and is still working on me!

  3. What challenges do you still face?

    • “Pride and worries.”

    • “I now face all challenges of life in a different way.” 

  4. How can we pray for you?

    • “Just that I can continue the good fight and the full restoration of my relationship with my son.  For all drug addicts still suffering.”

    • “Just ask God to help me to get in better shape, be healthy and stop smoking.”

    • “I’ve been getting job offers. Pray for me. I have trust and faith in God.”

    • “I am looking for a better paying job and a home church.  And you can pray that I wake up every day to do the Lord’s work.”
